A hands-free ultrasound device combined with a clot-busting drug was safe for ischemic stroke patients in a phase II pilot study, reported in the American Heart Association journal Stroke. Circumferential pelvic sheeting is a simple yet potentially lifesaving intervention for high-energy fractures that open the pelvic ring and cause hemodynamic instability. The folded sheet is centered over the greater trochanters, crossed anteriorly, and then pulled tightly. The ends of the sheet are secured with clamps or a knot.
